WILLIAMSBURG — Cornelius “Adrian” Lemmers, 85, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021. He was born in Gloucester to parents, Cornelius and Henrietta Lemmers, along with his sister, Geraldine Gjolberg, who preceded him in passing.
In grade school, Adrian met Kathleen Williams, who became his loving wife of 64 years, and they both graduated from Walsingham Academy.
Along with his wife, Adrian is survived by his son, Robert Lemmers, and grandchildren, Sydney and Tommy; and daughter, Anne Brown (Jeff), and grandchildren, Nick and Reagan.
After serving in the U.S. Army for two years, Adrian became a Virginia State Trooper for 12 years before leaving in 1970 to join the newly formed Prince William County Police Department, where he served until his retirement in 1996. Adrian was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golf. He was an active member of the Prince William County Retired Police Association, Virginia State Police Association, Knights of Columbus Arlington Council 2473, Saint James Catholic Church, Falls Church; and Saint Therese Catholic Church, Gloucester.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 20, at Saint Bede Catholic Church, Williamsburg, followed by interment at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in his name to the William Fisher Memorial Trust through Prince William County Retired Police Association; or Walsingham Academy, Williamsburg.
