TOANO — James Martin Miller, 76, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021.
James was a lifetime serviceman, beginning with serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, then following up with 28 years of service in law enforcement for the City of Williamsburg. He was also a member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge No. 6 and the Chickahominy Masonic Lodge of Toano No. 286.
Aside from going out for work, James would much prefer being at home. He loved to just be home and find anything he could tinker with or try and fix. Whether he fully completed a task…that’s up for debate! James will certainly be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Sandra M. Miller; two children, James C. Miller (Sandy) and Jennifer E. Moore (Jared); two stepchildren, Melinda Otey and Kenneth Hazelwood Jr.; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Clyde Miller (Joan) of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; sister, Betty Thorpe of Gloucester; and a host of other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of James M. Miller to the James City/Bruton Fire Department, 3135 Forge Road, Toano, VA 23168.
