HAMPTON — Donna Michelle “Missy” Propst Newman, aka, “Mimi,” 53, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2021.
A lifelong Virginia resident, she received a Bachelor’s Degree from Old Dominion University and had worked for over 30 years for Peninsula Hospital Services.
She was a loving woman who would do anything for anyone. She enjoyed sewing, playing the lottery, bingo, coffee and baking cakes, but her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, James “Junie” Propst Jr., and stepfather, James Douglas Miller.
Survivors include her husband, William Van Newman; children, Joshua Michael Perry, Taylor Mae Moore (Dylan), Tiffany Marie Newman (Stephen) and Tyler Michael Perry; mother, Doris J. Miller; grandchildren, Madelynn Mae Thomas, Blakelynn Montgomery Moore, Amelia Jean Grage and Tristen Alexander Grage; sister, Valerie Ann Cash; brother, James Stuart Propst III; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, at the funeral home chapel. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance is limited, but the service may be viewed live on the funeral home Facebook page.
