SEAFORD — Barbara Ann Johnson Sykes, 79, went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020.
Barbara was born in Momeyer, North Carolina, and resided in Seaford for the past 55 years.
She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Louise Johnson; and brother, James Sledge.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 63 years, D.B. Sykes Sr.; children, David Sykes Jr., Amanda Sykes, Al Sykes (Kim) and Brian Sykes; grandchildren, Ethan Sykes (Alice), Nick Sykes (Bea), Heather Sykes and Elton Sykes (Jermarion); and great-granddaughter, Mia.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Yorktown Baptist Church, Yorktown. Pastor Mark Boyd will be officiating the service. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all guests will be required to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing. The service will also be livestreamed on Facebook.
