NEWPORT NEWS — Joan Serrano Ginyard, 59, loving wife, mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020.
Joan was born in South Korea and came to the United States with her family when she was a young girl. Throughout her life, she worked in the medical field caring for others. She loved spending her time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved to cook and watch cooking shows.
Survived by her husband, Gregory Ginyard; daughters, Katrina Gatling and Kasarah Foster; son-in-law, Clifton Foster Jr.; grandchildren, Ariel Foster, Camden Foster and Giovanni Foster; father, Juan Serrano Sr.; brother, Juan Serrano Jr.; sister-in-law, Annabelle Serrano; niece and nephew, Hanna Serrano and Jackson Serrano; and other family residing in California.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday Dec. 14, at Altmeyer Funeral Home- Denbigh Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home. A procession will follow services to Peninsula Memorial Park.
