WILLIAMSBURG — Shirlene Wallace Clark, 69, departed this earthly life Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at Envoy of Williamsburg. On Sept. 13, 1951, her earthly journey began along with her twin brother, Sherman, to the union of the late Otelia and Floyd Wallace of Charles City.
Raised in New Kent County, Shirlene graduated from George W. Watkins High School; now known as George W. Watkins Elementary School. At a young age, she was baptized and joined Mount Nebo Baptist Church, Barhamsville. She was employed as a certified nursing assistant for many years caring for people in their homes.
Shirlene never had any children of her own, but she took all of her nieces and nephews and treated them as her own children. She would get excited whenever they were in her presence. Her warm and loving heart will be missed by all who knew her.
Shirlene is preceded in death by a sister, Ann Moody; brothers, Charles, Richard and Melvin Wallace; nephews, Adrian Wallace and Todd Whitaker; and great-nephew, Tremayne Safewright.
Her memory will forever remain with her twin brother, Sherman (Angel); sisters, Irene Randall and Ruby Whitaker; godsister, Frances Jenkins; brother-in-law, James Moody (Verlene); sister-in-law, Marie Jefferson (Hubert); aunt, Flora Randall; special nephew and dedicated caretaker of 28 years, the Rev. Morris L. Randall Sr. (Helen), who she affectionately called “Uncle Morris”; special niece, Cheryl Wright; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, at Whiting’s Chapel. Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance. Face coverings and social distancing will be enforced.
