Marie Taylor Evans went to her eternal home Sunday, Nov. 23, 2019.
Marie was a beloved chemistry and home economics teacher for 33 years at Surry County High school. She graduated from Hampton University with a bachelor’s degree and graduated from Howard University with a master’s degree. She joined the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and greatly loved her sorority.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thaddeus Clyde Evans; father, Andrew W. Taylor; and mother, Virginia W. Taylor.
Marie will be greatly missed by her daughter, Andrea T. Battle; son, Michael A. Taylor; granddaughters, Martene M. Battle and Courtney E. Battle; great-granddaughters, Akira M. Lauder and Ryann V. Clinton; and sorority sisters, the staff of Mennowood Retirement Community and many longtime friends.
Viewing will be held from noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2, at First Baptist Church of Hampton. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
