
David Michael Andrews, 45, of Hampton and Richmond, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019. Born Nov. 2, 1973, in Portsmouth, he was the son of Elizabeth Anne Andrews and William John Andrews (Diane).
David grew up in a military family and earned the rank of eagle scout. He entered active duty in the U.S. Army in July 2002. After serving as the chief of optometry at Camp Walker in South Korea, he served at Eagle Clinic, Kenner Army Health Clinic at Fort Lee. During his service he was awarded a commendation metal, and he was honorably discharged in July 2005. After serving as a civilian optometrist at Fort Lee, he left to open his own practice, July 2006 in Chester, Andrews Eye Care. He attended and graduated from; Nova South Eastern Optometry School (2002), James Madison University (1996) and Poquoson High School (1992).
David was preceded in death by his niece, Kaitlyn Elizabeth; nephew, Thomas Colby; and aunt and uncle Mary Elizabeth and Ruben Dominguez. Survivors include two children, Jaqueline “Jaxie” Ann, 8, (Kim) and Penelope “Nella” Luna, 4, (Jess); brothers, John William Andrews (Emily); sister, Julia Edwards-McDaniel (Cynthia); stepbrothers, Robert Brown (Brooke) and Nathaniel Brown (Elizabeth); nephews, Lincoln, Jacob, Dennis and Brandon; nieces, Katherine and Talise; three uncles, Michael Andrews (Brenda), David Wright (Carol) and Jim Glover; and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Hampton. Internment will follow at a later date in Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
