Donna N. Johnson, 91, longtime accompanist with the Williamsburg Women’s Chorus

Donna N. Johnson, 91, of Williamsburg, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018. She was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Binghamton, New York.

She attended Binghamton Central High School and the State University of New York, Teachers College at Potsdam, where she graduated with a B.S. Degree in Education and an M.S. Degree in Music Education. Her teaching career included music and kindergarten in West Islip, New York, and Jamestown Academy and St. Stephens Nursery School in Williamsburg.

A member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, she was also a founding member of the Susannah Wesley Circle and longtime member of the choir. She was also a longtime accompanist of the Williamsburg Women’s Chorus.

After retiring to the Finger Lakes region of central New York, she attended the Owasco Reformed Church and was a member of the Roundabout Club and Owasco Yacht Club in Auburn, New York. She and her husband returned to Williamsburg in 2010, where she continued her membership with Williamsburg United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her spouse, Richard A. “Dick” Johnson; two sons, Mark A. Johnson and Gregg R. Johnson; and grandchild, Mark Johnson Willard.

A service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg.
