The Rev. Paul Bernard Sparrer, 83, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, after a long struggle with diabetes.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Bernard Sparrer; mother, Jeanette Diggs Sparrer; brother, Bernard W. Sparrer; and sister, Edna Louise Sparrer.
Paul was a retired Methodist minister, serving 34 years in and around the Pittsburgh area. At Zion, he taught the Friendship Sunday School Class for many years.
He is survived by his friend and caregiver of 57 years, Donald Alker and his fiancée Linda Smith, special friend Velma Saire and numerous cousins as well as many dear friends.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Zion United Methodist Church, 2109 Seaford Road, Seaford. A reception will follow the service. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Peninsula Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Riverside Medical personnel and York Convalescent Center caregivers for their care and compassion during Paul’s illness.
