
Andrew A. Rossi, 91, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Rossi.
Andrew was born in Genoa, Italy, and endured hard times during World War II. He served in the Italian and U.S. Merchant Marine, immigrated to America, served honorably in the U.S. Army as an M.P. and translator during the Korean War, worked in construction and trucking to support his family, and eventually became a successful businessman in New York City, owning his own import-export company at the World Trade Center until his retirement.
He loved his family, opera (Pavarotti), tennis (Federer), dancing, pasta, and “The African Queen.” He had no patience for cold food or loud talkers.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Paul C. Rossi and wife, Lorraine, Charles A. Rossi, and wife, June, and Andrew (Andy) V. Rossi; grandchildren, Valerie Rossi, Stephen Rossi, Lauren Rossi and Nicole Rossi; nieces and nephew, Janet Equale, and husband, Joseph, Sandra Nuti, and husband, Renzo, and Andrea Rossi, and wife, Nicoletta; grand-niece and grand-nephews, Michelle Equale, Paul Equale (wife, Cathleen), Ryan Equale (wife, Laura), Fabrizio Nuti and Federico Rossi; and great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews, Danielle, Anthony, Vincent, Robert, Joey, AnnaRose, Rocco, Leo and Leighton.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 18, at Amory Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 19, at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton.
