Barbara Jean Thorpe, 77, had great love for the beauty in nature

Barbara Jean Thorpe, 77, left her earthly home for heaven on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. She was born on April 28, 1938, in Valdosta, Ga.

She loved the Lord and spent many Sundays watching Dr. Charles Stanley on television. She also loved the T.V. show Matlock. Barbara was a beautiful woman and had a great love for the beauty in nature. She would often spend time on her back deck surrounded by her beautiful flowers. She was also known for her love of designer clothing and accessories, a passion she easily passed on to her girls.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Oscar Carl Thorpe; her mother, Helen Mary Rousseau; daughters, Pamela Jean Sams, and her husband, William/Skip Sams, and Linda Lane Cecil, and her husband, Doug Cecil; stepdaughters, Melody Leigh Thorpe and Heather Louise Thorpe; stepson, Stephen Todd Thorpe; grandchildren, Audrey Waters, Austin Waters, Chad Wagner, Noah Wagner and Eric Wagner; great-grandchildren, Kymberlee and Kamden; and sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Plymel.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 11, in Colonial Grove Cemetery, Virginia Beach. Pastor Mark Bailey of Carpenter’s House Ministries will be officiating the service.
