Ruby Mae Fowlkes, a former longtime resident of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2016, in Garner, N.C.

She was united in holy matrimony, with the late Cloyd Mansfield Fowlkes, for more than 40 years. During that time, she joined Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the church and served as a member of the Pastor’s Aide and the Hospitality Committee.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted daughter, Anastasia ‘Ann’ Thorne; two grandsons, Tracey Freeman (Pamela) and Troy Freeman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Fowlkes may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 25, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A service celebrating her life will be held at noon on Friday, February 26, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
