Carrie L. White answered the Master’s call on Thursday, January 21, 2016, in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
Her long life’s journey began on July 28, 1922, the daughter of the late Lucy and Wilbur Robinson. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church, in Toano, Virginia. She was a devoted member of her church, until her health began to fail. She was loved by all and she will be greatly missed.
Mrs. White was also preceded in death, just recently, by her daughter, Barbara White Williams, her husband, Elijah White, Jr., another daughter, Mary Graves and a son, Roosevelt White. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her devoted daughters, Clara Johnson, Doris Morris (Donald) and Rosa Cotman (Charlie); her son, Miles White; her sister, Mary Jones; her 24 grandchildren; her 50 great-grandchildren; her 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service, celebrating her life, will be held 1 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016, in St. John Baptist Church, Toano, with the Rev. Reggie Berkley officiating. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
Family and friends will assemble at 201 Forest Glen Drive by noon Friday. Mrs. White may be viewed on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
