Jasper “Reb” Rogers, passed peacefully on January 13, 2016. He was 88.
Jasper was born in Dillon, SC. He was in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. While stationed in Boston he met the love of his life Loretta. His entire life was devoted to his family and community. He had a passion for The Boston Red Sox. Anyone who had the honor of meeting Jasper knew him as the guy who “would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.” In 1990 Jasper retired from MIT in Boston and in 2009 moved to Virginia Beach to be close to his children.
Jasper is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Loretta Rogers; and his son, James Rogers. He is survived by his brothers, Wayne and Tim Rogers; and sister, Darcus Lee Ouelette.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Patricia Eckhart, Marilyn Meyers, Susan Burnett and her husband Richard Burnett; daughter-in-law, Melissa Rogers; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial services will be 11 a.m. on January 21, 2016, at Albert G.
