David Eugene Anderson, 41, Navy veteran awarded Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service medals

David Eugene Anderson, of Williamsburg, died Aug. 13, 2015, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. He was 41.

Born in Long Beach, California, on March 30, 1974, he was the son of Gary and Gail (Ostrom) Anderson, of Reno, Nevada.

Mr. Anderson entered the U.S. Navy in 1992 and retired from the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown. While serving our country, Mr. Anderson worked as a supervisor, operator and technician at the Nuclear Propulsion Plant surface ship. He also worked at the Submarine Nuclear Propulsion Plant as an operator.

His decorations included the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy “E” Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service medals and Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He was an enlisted aviation warfare specialist.

In addition to his parents, David is survived by his loving wife, Marcy; daughters, Madeline and Hallie, both of Williamsburg; son, Nathan Anderson, of Williamsburg; and sister, Linda Vickers and husband, Paul, of England.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at the Nelson Chapel in Yorktown with the Rev. Jeffery Seiler officiating.
