Hugh M. Weaver, 91, his restorations saved many historic Virginia homes

Hugh M. Weaver, of Williamsburg, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at the age of 91.

Born on May 18, 1924, in Campobello, South Carolina, he was the last of 18 children of Samuel Boyce Weaver and the third child of second wife Martha Lula Hines.

Hugh served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947 and was a manager with Swift and Company from 1948 through 1972. He had a passion for colonial architecture and antique furniture and his restorations saved many historic Virginia homes.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hattie Elizabeth Cole ,of Laurel, Maryland and his second wife, Pauline Claire Valentine, of Nottingham, England.

He is survived by his son, H. Mac Weaver II (Anita); daughter, Martha Marshall (David); stepsons, Paul Valentine (Lisa) and Peter Valentine (Susan), 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, followed by a service at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 809 S. Henry Street, Williamsburg following the service.
