Ronald Eugene “Beez” Beasley, 60, 20-year US Air Force veteran with a secret bean dip recipe

Ret. U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant Ronald Eugene “Beez” Beasley died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Sgt. Beasley was born June 4, 1954, at South Ruislip Air Force Base in Middlesex, England, the son of Eugene Beasley and Marjorie Miller. He graduated from James Blair High School in Williamsburg in 1972. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He served from 1972 to 1992 at The Pentagon in Washington; Hahn Air Force Base, Stuttgart and Rhein-Main Air Force Base in West Germany; Andrews Air Force Base in Ford Meade, Md.; and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

Besides his outstanding military career, Sgt. Beasley worked in Lansing, Mich. for Michigan National Bank and then MESSA, from which he retired in 2013. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, crossword puzzles, German food, music from the 1960s and 1970s and spending time with his kids. He was also a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins, Detroit Tigers, Michigan State Spartans and John Daly. The secret recipe for his game-day bean dip will remain safe with his children.

Sgt. Beasley was preceded in death by his father, Eugene; brothers-in-law, Pedro Rivera and Juan Rivera; and sister-in-law, Lynn Rivera. He is survived by his son, Tony Beasley; Tony’s wife, Jessica Nguyen; his daughter, Angela Beasley (Jeffrey Jones); his children’s mother, Catalina Rivera Beasley-Martin; his mother, Marjorie Beasley; his sister, Lorraine Beasley; his nephews, Jason and Jared Arthur; and his niece, Michele Arthur. He is also survived by many Rivera in-laws, nieces and nephews—all of whom loved their Uncle Beez.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to your local VA Medical Center.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Olive Branch Christian Church, 7643 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188, followed by memorial services beginning at 11 a.m. Internment with military honors will follow immediately at the church cemetery.
