George J.C. Fries, a Yorktown resident since 1994, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at the age of 76.
He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. and graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1960 and retired in 1988 as a colonel after 28 years of faithful service to his country. After retiring, he worked for York County public schools as a substitute teacher for the middle and high schools.
He was a member of the VFW 824 and enjoyed landscaping and was a master gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rebecca Fries; daughters, Suzanne Boucher (Ron), of Baton Rouge, La., Nicole Feldman, of Little Rock, Ark., Jennifer Bowers (Christopher), of Kent, Ohio and Stefanie Goodrich (Mark), of Summerville, S.C.; a son, Matthew Fries (Michelle), of Springdale, Ark.; a sister, Rosemarie Vetter, of Bronx, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Taylor, Dotty, Marcom, Michael, Brian, Alycia, Trey, Brianna, Brittany, Amber, Savannah and Liam.

Interment will be at later date at The Air Force Academy Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colo.
