Helen L. Yarbrough, 87, enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles

Helen L. Yarbrough, of Williamsburg, died Aug. 2, 2014, at the age of 87.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Yarbrough; parents, Clewis and Ollie Leggitt; brother, Matthew Leggitt; and sister, Jean Del-Manzo.

Mrs. Yarbrough received her teaching certification from the Georgia College for Women and taught in Thomaston, Ga. for three years. During the 1950s and 1960s, she worked as a secretary for Pan American Airways. She enjoyed drinking coffee with friends, gardening, bowling, bridge, jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Scott Yarbrough and his wife, Sonia; daughter, Patricia Bailey and her husband, Keith; and grandchildren, Alexandra and Phillip Bailey, Cybil, Chelsea and Douglas Gabrish.

Family advice and how she lived: “Work hard, always tell the truth, and pray daily.”

A service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Patriots Colony, 6200 Patriots Colony Dr., Williamsburg, VA.
