Mildred M. Davis, 78, known as “Mom” to everyone and loved growing and canning produce

Mildred M. Davis, of James City County, died March 30, 2014, at the age of 78.

She was known as “Mom” to everyone and worked for BASF Corporation in shipping and receiving. She graduated from Bald Creek High School in Burnsville, N.C. and loved to grow vegetable gardens, can produce and pick strawberries at Marston’s Farm. She also sewed quilts and loved to cook for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Rosie Phillips.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Davis, Jr., son, Rodney E. Diehl and his wife, Kate; daughter, Teresa A. Diehl; and grandchildren, Megan and Kelsey.

Memorial contributions may be made to the James City Fire Dept., 3135 Forge Rd., Toano, VA 23168.

She suffered from the debilitating complications of diabetes for several years and the crippling condition of arthritis. We believe that she is now free from pain and with loved ones who have gone before her. We will miss her, we will always love her and we will continue to honor her.
