Richard Pienta, a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church, Williamsburg, died Jan. 18, 2014, at the age of 73.
Mr. Pienta was a Marine for four years and retired systems administrator and was last employed at Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He graduated from Marymount High School and attended Kings College. He was also an avid golf player, loved football, fishing and the beach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Pienta; brother, Joseph Jr.; and sister, Bernadine Romasiewicz.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Butcofski Pienta; daughters, Pamela Birtell, (Larry) and Patrice Hamel (James); and grandchildren, Bridget and Abigail Hamel.
The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, therapists and medical staff that contributed to his medical care, rehabilitation and finally his hospice care. You have all been a blessing and have touched our family with your heartfelt dedication.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Parish in Pittston, Pa. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
