Police probe deadly Circuit Lane shooting

NEWPORT NEWS — Police here are looking into the circumstances surrounding a shooting that left a man dead Monday night.

Authorities identified the man as Melquan Tybrae Kennedy of Newport News.

He was 23 years old.

Information about a suspect/suspects or a motive was not immediately released.

Officers were sent to the 300 block of Circuit Lane at around 11:53 p.m. to investigate a report about a shooting.

There, they found Kennedy “with multiple gunshot wounds.”

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have information about the shooting to call the Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.
