NEWPORT NEWS — A 23-year-old man wanted on multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants out of various jurisdictions is now in police custody following a “tactical situation” Sunday.
Newport News Police did not immediately release information on the nature of the warrants on Brian Fayne, where he’s from, and where those warrants were issued. Police would only say Fayne “also has warrants from the Virginia State Police.”
The situation Sunday began at 9:27 a.m., shortly after police received a tip about a fugitive, later identified as Fayne, staying at the Days Inn motel in the 11800 block of Fishing Point Drive.
Fayne refused to “exit the room,” police said.
Initially, police reported that a 22-year-old woman inside the room with Fayne had warrants out of James City County, but later confirmed the woman was not wanted.
Authorities also indicated a “young child” was inside but did not elaborate.
Police initiated a “tactical situation” at 1:25 p.m.
At 3:38 p.m. police sent out an email saying Fayne had been taken into custody without further incident.
No injuries were reported.
