YORK COUNTY — A Virginia Beach man was arrested Wednesday after the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said he inappropriately touched two juvenile sisters at Water Country USA last month.
The Sheriff’s Office began investigating July 18 after the girls, ages 14 and 17, reported that the man approached them multiple times and struck up conversations with them at the park.
The 17-year-old told investigators the man touched her buttocks, while the 14-year-old said he stroked her arm, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The girls told their mother, who contacted deputies. Investigators identified the suspect and arrested him Aug. 19 in Norfolk, the Sheriff’s Office stated.
Matthew Taylor Morris, 40, of Virginia Beach, was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery and two counts of misdemeanor assault.
Morris is being held at the Norfolk City Jail.
Water Country USA has not responded to a request for comment.
