
HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 27. Here is how local offices and services are impacted by the holiday.
James City County
James City County said offices, facilities, services and libraries will observe the following schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday:
County Offices:

James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center:

Parks:
All County parks are open year-round.
Park Stores and Guest Services Offices:
Closed, Nov. 27 and 28
Jolly Pond Road, Tewning Road and Toano Convenience Centers:

Garbage Transfer Station:
Closed, Nov. 27
Open, Nov. 28
Curbside Recycling:
Thursday’s recycling will be picked up on Friday and Friday’s will be picked up on Saturday.

City of Poquoson
The city said all non-emergency city offices will close for a half day on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and remain closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
On Wednesday, Nov. 26, the city said Public Works will close at 11 a.m. and the Library will close at 1 p.m. All other city offices will close at noon.
City of Williamsburg
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the City of Williamsburg said offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, 2025. This includes the offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street and Quarterpath Recreation Center.
Waller Mill Park is closed Thursday, Nov. 27. It follows normal operating hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 28.
The holiday does not affect trash or recycling collection in the city, it said. It is a Blue Route Week for Residential Curbside Leaf Collection. The leaf collection will not occur on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28. To check whether your home receives leaf collection services and on which route, look up your address at williamsburgva.gov/leafcollection.
For water and sewer emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays, call 757-220-2331. More information can be found at williamsburgva.gov/publicworks.
Those who need to pay a city bill when offices are closed are encouraged to use the 24-hour bill payment dropbox located at the front of the Municipal Building for city transactions. Payments can also be made online. The city said dropbox payments made on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, will not be posted until Monday, Dec. 1.
The city also reminds residents that real estate tax bills for the period of July 1 to Dec. 31 and personal property tax bills are due Dec. 1.
York County
York County said Government offices and courts will observe the following schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday:

The county said garbage will not be collected on Thanksgiving Day. Collections scheduled for Thursday will occur on Friday, with Friday collections moved to Saturday.
The VPPSA Composting Facility and drop-off centers for garbage and recycling will be closed on Thursday, but open Friday. Citizens needing assistance are reminded to submit requests via the Customer Service Request Portal — yorkcounty.gov/requests.
