Williamsburg’s amusement parks have released a new video giving the latest update on one of their new rides.

Cutback, Water Country USA and Virginia’s first hybrid water coaster, is set to open in May. Water Country USA will open May 18.

“To have a water coaster of our own here at Water Country USA, it’s a big deal,” said Phil Boykin, park operations manager at Water Country USA.

On Tuesday, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA released a minute-and-a-half-long video detailing the latest construction update for the water coaster.

The video is called “Surf Report.” The final slide parts have been put into place, and now crews are working to pour concrete for the queue lines, Boykin said.

After the concrete dries, Water Country USA will start landscaping around the ride.

Before it opens in May, a ProSlide test group will ride the coaster and perform a “litany” of tests, Boykin said.

After testing, the park operations team will conduct more tests to ensure the ride is “dialed in,” Boykin said.

“It’s a workout for the team here constantly running up the tower and riding down it,” Boykin said.
