The proposed Oakland Pointe Apartments affordable housing complex will come back for another public hearing in early February.

The James City County Board of Supervisors has tentatively it for 5 p.m. Feb. 12, according to a news release from the county. The meeting will be at the County Government Center, at 101 Mounts Bay Road, Building F.

Scheduling the hearing for February will give supervisors time and opportunity to review the materials and public comments from the Dec. 5 Planning Commission meeting, according to the news release.

The Planning Commission voted 5-2 Dec. 5 to recommend the Board of Supervisors approve the project.

Developer Connelly Builders is seeking a rezoning and height limitation waiver for the property at 7581 Richmond Road in Toano. The project includes a 126-unit affordable housing complex with five buildings.

Since it was first proposed last year, the application has received both support and opposition.

The Board of Supervisors will officially approve its 2019 meeting calendar at the Jan. 2 organizational meeting, which is why the public hearing is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 12.
