Williamsburg Police have arrested a Texas man after he scuffled with a police officer over the weekend.

The incident happened around 12:05 a.m. Sunday when the officer, who was on patrol, intervened in an altercation involving several men in the vicinity of Rolfe Road, said Sgt. Greg Riley of Williamsburg Police.

One of the men — Eugene Goldak, 20, of Sugarland, Texas — appeared to be intoxicated. Goldak pushed the officer while talking to him and then ran into nearby woods, Riley said.

Goldak was arrested later Sunday and charged with assault and battery on law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice, drunk in public and underage possession of alcohol, Riley said.

The officer was not injured, Riley said.

Goldak was taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
