The public will soon have increased access to Norfolk’s waterways

NORFOLK — Good news for boating and fishing lovers out there.

A boat launch on May 24 at Lake Whitehurst will be the starting point for residents to have greater access to Norfolk’s Waterways, according to a news release from the city.

Lake Whitehurst is known as one of the 11 freshwater reservoirs in Norfolk that provides safe drinking water to the local and surrounding communities, city officials said.

Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander, Councilman Tommy Smigiel, and other guests will welcome boaters to Lake Whitehurst at 4 p.m. at the intersection of Heutte Drive and Shore Drive.

The event is free and available to the public.
