Free live music returns to Jamestown Beach Event Park this Friday with The Groove Motive.

The live “Motown Night” concert, part of the Jamestown Jams series, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday on the grassy field within Jamestown Beach Event Park, according to James City County.

Formed in 2009, The Groove Motive is a six-piece musical group that delivers “an exciting, engaging, music-filled experience,” the county said.

The entrance will open at 5:30 p.m., so attendees can bring their snacks, lawn chairs and picnic blankets early.

While guests are not allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages, the Williamsburg Winery will be on hand serving their wines.

The Arc of Williamsburg, who is partnering with the county to sponsor this year’s Jamestown Jams concerts, will sell assorted beer. All proceeds will benefit the Arc’s local activities and programs.

The Hungry Hungry Arrow food truck and Sno-To-Go will also be serving food and icy treats.

Parking for the event will be behind the old Jamestown Campground building at 2205 Jamestown Road, adjacent to Jamestown Settlement.

Anything brought to the park is subject to inspection prior to entry. Large plastic coolers and pets are not permitted in the park, with the exception of service animals.
