NORFOLK — The first Fridays of the month are about to get loud in downtown Norfolk.
The Downtown Norfolk Council announced Wednesday the upcoming First Fridays season schedule.
The monthly event will feature a beer garden featuring craft beer, food trucks, live music and merchandise vendors, according to a press release. It starts Friday, April 7 at the downtown Norfolk Tidewater Community College plaza from 5-8:30 p.m.
“DNC is thrilled to partner with the Virginia Arts Festival for the April and May First Fridays programming to help celebrate an exciting 21st Arts Festival season,” said Mary Miller, president and CEO of Downtown Norfolk Council in a press release. “We invite everyone to enjoy this fun musical series as well as our vibrant businesses and dynamic residential community.”

First Friday in April
When: Friday, April 7 from 5-8:30 p.m.
Where: Tidewater Community College downtown plaza, 300 Block of Granby Street
Music: Multi-genre band The Special Guests
“Cinco De Mayo Celebration”
When: Friday, May 5 from 5-8:30 p.m.
Where: MacArthur Center Park, corner of Monticello Avenue and Freemason Street
Music: Latin dance band Bio Ritmo
First Friday in June
When: Friday, June 2 from 5-8:30 p.m.
Where: The Plot in the NEON District on the corner of Olney and Granby Street
Music: Funk and R&B band BJ Griffin and the Galaxy Groove
First Friday in August
When: Friday, Aug. 4 from 5-8:30 p.m.
Where: Tidewater Community College downtown plaza, 300 Block of Granby Street
Music: Country blues band Brackish Water Jamboree and indie country rock band Gina Dalmas and the Cow Tippin’ Playboys

When: Friday, Sept. 1 from 5-8:30 p.m.
