The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is investigating a gunshot heard Feb. 28 at the Travelodge on Bypass Road.

Police responded to the Travelodge, located at 120 Bypass Road, March 1 for a report of a gunshot that rang out the previous night, sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Dennis Ivey said.

A man who was living with his family in a room at the hotel told police he heard a gunshot and a voice yelling around 10:30 p.m., Ivey said. Several minutes later, he heard someone running up the hotel stairs near his room.

Police recovered a shell casing from the hotel parking lot, but did not find any property damage or any people with injuries, Ivey said.

The incident is still under investigation.
