Norfolk job fair aims to fill 300 seasonal part-time positions next weekend

NORFOLK — Several Hampton Roads entertainment venues are looking for 300 part-time workers for the spring and summer season.

The Norfolk Scope Arena will host an Event Staffing Inc. job fair Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in meeting room four. The event is free and open to the public.

Event Staffing Inc. is ready to hire applicants on the spot, according to general manager Janet Brown. Positions include security guards, ushers, parking staff, patrol guards, experienced concert production staff and more.

New hires could work at venues like the Norfolk Scope Arena, Virginia Beach Convention Center, Portsmouth Pavilion, Hampton University and festivals like Bonnaroo and the Electric Forest Festival, according to a press release.

Applicants must be at least 18 and bring two forms of valid identification with them to be eligible for employment.

Potential hires may be required to submit fingerprints to become certified with the Department of Criminal Justice Services of Virginia and complete a 19-hour training course. If an applicant is already certified, they are encouraged to bring their DCJS card, according to the release.
