A Gloucester man was sentenced to five years in prison with all time suspended in York-Poquoson Circuit Court on Tuesday.
Chad Dallas Jackson, 28, was found guilty in August of one felony count of attempting to commit armed robbery of an Advance Auto Parts.
Investigators believe Jackson was the culprit in the series of robberies that took place in the area around the Advance Auto Parts throughout the month leading up to his arrest.
Two undercover cops staked out on Merrimac Trail on July 30, 2014, spotted Jackson, who matched the description of the man responsible for the recent string of robberies, approaching the auto parts store.
Jackson disappeared behind a bush near Advance Auto Parts then reappeared wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He then approached the door, which he found locked due to a manager inside deciding to close up early that day.
When Jackson turned back around to leave the way he came, the investigators drove over to the parking lot, where he was arrested. He was found to have a flashlight, mask, baseball cap and BB gun marked to look like a pistol in his possession.
Though he was originally charged with various offenses relating to the other area robberies, 21 charges against him were dropped in December, leaving him to face just one count of attempted robbery.
Jackson will begin a five-year period of supervised probation immediately, and is expected to pay court costs of $733.
