W&M to Test Emergency Sirens on Wednesday

The College of William and Mary will test out its emergency sirens and notification system Wednesday afternoon.

The test is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, when the 120-decibel siren system will ring and a test alert will be sent through the university’s mass notification system. Sirens are stationed above the Integrated Science Center, the William & Mary Law School on South Henry Street and the School of Education building off Monticello Avenue. For the notification system test, text messages and non-campus telephones will not be included.

Those who want to hear the sound they will hear during the test can listen to the siren through this link.

During a real emergency, community members should check the William and Mary website for information and instructions.

Residents can also follow emergency news and other alerts through the college’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
