JCC Student Charged with Bringing Knife to Lafayette High

An 18-year-old James City County man who is a student at Lafayette High School was charged with possession of a knife on school property after he was found to have a 3.75-inch folding lock-blade knife in his backpack.

Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said Richard Timothy Lemaster told another student he had the knife. That student told  the school’s security, who questioned Lemaster and searched his backpack, finding the knife.

Rubino said Lemaster never brandished the knife. He told security he forgot the knife was in the backpack. The charge is a misdemeanor.
