A James City County man was charged Saturday with reckless handling of a firearm after a shotgun discharged during a struggle with a girlfriend Jan. 15 in the bedroom of a home on Jesters Lane.
Nobody was hurt from the discharge of the gun, a 20 gauge Remington shotgun. The gun apparently discharged after the man and his girlfriend began struggling for control of the gun during an argument, said Stephanie Williams-Ortery of the James City County Police Department.
Both the man and his girlfriend are 18 years old.
The man was not taken into custody when he was charged.
