WILLIAMSBURG — A dueling-piano tribute to pop singers Billy Joel and Elton John opened the 2026 New Town Tunes outdoor concert series Wednesday night, drawing a dancing crowd to Sullivan Square.
The Elton John and Billy Joel impersonators also dressed the part of their star. Dan Vechesky who portrayed New York native Billy Joel was in a black jacket, jeans, and sunglasses, while Doug Delescavage who played England’s Elton John was in a white suit with a hot pink shirt and rosy sunglasses.
Attendees were treated to more than music. Local food trucks and breweries were serving beer and wine, while many in the crowd danced to “I’m Still Standing” “Movin’ Out”, “Crocodile Rock”, and “Piano Man” in front of the stage.
New Town Tunes is a free outdoor concert series held in Sullivan Square behind Legacy Hall in New Town Williamsburg. The concerts became a seasonal tradition in Williamsburg, typically running on Wednesday evenings during the spring and fall.
The series was created through a partnership between James City County Parks & Recreation, CultureFix VA and the New Town Commercial Association to bring live music and community events to the mixed-use development.
The events are free, family-friendly and pet-friendly, with attendees encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
