
JAMES CITY COUNTY — The James City County Police Department announced it has charged a man in connection with an armed robbery in the 3800 block of Staffordshire Lane Jan 11.
According to police, 29-year-old Robert Zackary Johnson, of the 200 block of Old Appalachian Trail in Fancy Gap, has been charged with breaking and entering at night with the intent to commit a felony, robbery, and malicious wounding.
Officials said James City County Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 3800 block of Staffordshire Lane. at approximately 3 p.m. on Jan. 12 for an alleged robbery that occurred the previous day. Officers arrived to find two victims who had injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. The victims, a 66-year‑old male and a 55-year‑old female, were residents of the apartment. Both were transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center where they remain in serious but stable condition, police said.
The victims reported that Johnson, whom the male victim knew, allegedly entered the residence by force on Jan. 11, assaulted both victims with an unknown weapon, stole several items and fled the scene in the male victim’s vehicle.
JCCPD said Johnson was located in the City of Williamsburg Jan. 12 at approximately 6:02 p.m. and taken into custody by Williamsburg Police. He was transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail on Williamsburg Police charges and was subsequently charged by James City County Police.
Johnson remains in custody without bond.
