WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg Winery announced it recently hosted Charlie Arturaola, an internationally acclaimed sommelier and star of “The Wine Guys: Grape Escapes,” “El Camino del Vino” and “The Ways of Wine.”

Arturaola, accompanied by his wife Pandora and a film crew, embarked on a tour of Virginia’s wine country as part of his upcoming film, which will spotlight renowned wine regions across the globe — including Virginia.

The journey began with Williamsburg Winery, where the Arturaolas were welcomed for an exclusive pop-up tasting in Wessex Hall. They explored the winery’s vineyards, enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the cellar, and sampled a curated selection of Williamsburg Winery’s award-winning wines.

“It was an absolute honor to showcase our property and wines to Charlie, Pandora, and their team,” said Michael Weatherly, CEO of Williamsburg Winery. “Their visit is a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of Virginia wines, and we are thrilled to play a central role in telling this story to the world.”

According to the winery, following their time in Williamsburg, the Arturaolas ventured across Virginia to meet with prominent winemakers, film at each location and explored iconic vineyards.

Their first stop was Ecco Adesso Vineyards in the Shenandoah Valley, where they enjoyed a guided tour, a tasting, and dinner with the winemaking team. According to Williamsburg Winery, “the picturesque setting and focus on sustainability at Ecco Adesso left a lasting impression on Charlie and his crew, highlighting the unique character of the region.”

At Paradise Springs Winery, they toured the historic property and connected with owner Kirk Wiles and winemaker Rob Cox.

The journey continued to King Family Vineyards near Charlottesville, where Charlie met Stuart and Carrington King and sampled their award-winning wines.

The Virginia tour concluded at Barboursville Vineyards with a meeting alongside Luca Paschina and Francesco Zonin.

“Charlie’s passion for wine and storytelling is contagious,” said Weatherly. “We are proud that Williamsburg Winery and our peers in Virginia are being showcased in such a meaningful way. This film will truly highlight the vibrancy of our region and the excellence of our winemaking community.”
