Winter Nature Nights: A Magical Holiday Experience for Families

NEWPORT NEWS — This holiday season, The Virginia Living Museum is inviting families to experience the enchantment of Winter Nature Nights, a festive celebration that promises to delight visitors of all ages.

Running from Dec. 19-22 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., the museum says Winter Nature Nights will offer a magical journey through illuminated trails, live music, interactive exhibits, and holiday cheer.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including decorated indoor exhibits, an illuminated outdoor boardwalk trail, games on the Conservation lawn, hot chocolate and cookie decorating, a Santa letter-writing station with a mailbox, and guests can visit Santa in the Goodson Greenhouse, according to the museum.

The outdoor Dinosaur Discovery Trail will feature interactive storytelling based on “How Do Dinosaurs Say Merry Christmas” by Jane Yolen, it added.

Each night features unique festive musical performances on the museum grounds.

Performance schedule:

  • Dec. 19 — Tabb High School Chorus from 6 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. followed by the Tabb High School Jazz Band from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.
  • Dec. 20 — Cellist, The Josh.
  • Dec. 21 — The Santa Bones Trombone Quartet.
  • Dec. 22 — Percussionist Ricky Micou and the Soundscapes Performance Ensemble.

Guests can also purchase additional tickets for two special holiday shows evening show at the Planetarium; Star of Wonder and Laser Holidays, according to the museum. Planetarium tickets are an add-on and require main event admission.
