Williamsburg Artists Group Returns to Bruton Parish House for Fall Sale this October

Bob Carlson’s “Colonial (Town) Coach”

WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Artists Group (WAG) announced it will return to Bruton Parish House on Oct. 11 and 12 for its popular fall sale of new artwork.

“This venue offers an excellent opportunity for artists and visitors to meet in a convenient and comfortable space. There is plenty of room to walk around at your own pace to see the artwork, and, if something grabs your eye, to talk to the artist about the inspiration for it and how it was created. It’s fun for everyone,” said Bob Carlson, one of the group’s leaders.

About 20 artists will be displaying their works, including original paintings and prints, photography, fine crafts, hand-painted cards, and more. WAG will donate 10% of its total sales from the show to local charity House of Mercy.

Doors open on Friday, Oct. 11 from 4-8 p.m., and wine and other refreshments will be offered. The event will continue on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bruton Parish House is located at 331 Duke of Gloucester St.

“This show is laid back and casual, with no pushy sales. Because we are an independent organization and don’t work through a physical gallery, this type of setup tends to enable our artists to offer very reasonable prices for their work. It’s a great way to get unique gifts for the upcoming holiday season and there’s a large variety of styles and mediums to choose from,” explained Carlson.

Established in 2018 as a way for local artists to show their work outside a traditional gallery, sales are usually held at least twice a year at various venues.

WAG currently has an exhibit at the Stryker Gallery, part of the Williamsburg Regional Library system, and this past summer had its own sales kiosk at Busch Gardens.

The group’s Facebook page showcases artists’ work.
