WILLIAMSBURG— Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s “Journey to Día de los Muertos” will be performed on Thursday, Oct. 17 at Warhill High School.
Students, parents, and community members are invited to attend organized by the Warhill High School World Language Department, Spanish Honor Society, Athletics and Theater Departments.
Williamsburg James City County Schools promises the show will engage the audience in a cultural journey through an exploration of the traditions, songs, dances, and language that traces its earliest roots to the Aztec people in what is now central Mexico.
According to Calpulli’s website, the group is a not-for-profit organization founded in New York City in 2003 with a mission to celebrate the rich diversity of Mexican and Mexican-American cultural heritage through dance-based programming including live music.
There will be two shows on Oct. 17 — one at 4:30 p.m. and the other at 6:30 p.m. Both shows will be held at Warhill High School. Tickets are $17 for orchestra seats and $12 for the lecture hall.
