YORKTOWN — The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.
“The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is committed to meaningful partnerships in our community,” said Christy S. Coleman, executive director. “Working with the American Red Cross on this blood drive is the museum’s way of supporting staff, colleagues and neighbors and helping save lives.”
According to the American Red Cross, blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.
The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, an educational agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, administers two museums of early American history, Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.
The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown will have space available for the blood drive in its education wing classrooms, located at 200 Water Street in Yorktown near the Colonial Parkway.
