Heritage Humane Society – Animal Camp 2022

Calling all young animal lovers! Summer camp registration at the Heritage Humane Society is now open.

This popular experience returns for another season of hands-on fun and learning. Animal Camp 2022 lets rising first through sixth-graders discover one of Greater Williamsburg’s most treasured and critical services, the Heritage Humane Society.

Campers discover the amazing world of this busy animal shelter that cares for more than 1,000 furry (and not-so-furry) friends each year. In the new Heritage Humane Society classroom, children will meet new friends, assist with daily enrichment making for the pets, enjoy animal interactions, hear from animal services officers, veterinary techs, animal foster caregivers, and more.

Inspiring the next generation

From simply wanting to learn more about caring for pets to aspiring veterinarians, Heritage Humane Society’s Animal Camp helps support campers’ pet passions. Campers learn the responsibility, cleaning, safety, and proper care for pets. The diverse curriculum cultivates compassion and awareness of helping pets within the community as much as having them at home. The staff at Heritage Humane Society and guest speakers will provide interactive presentations focused on animal welfare, biology, and conservation.

This camp is also a telling opportunity for young ones who are asking their parents or guardians for pets. Campers learn that caring for pets comes with great responsibility. They discover how this is essential 24/7.

Fox Wire Farms Alpacas

Heritage Humane Society Animal Camp 2022 is bringing back some unique furry friends. This summer campers will get to visit with alpaca from Fox Wire Farm Alpacas. The alpaca handlers will help campers get hands-on in learning about these docile creatures. They discover such fun facts such as alpacas are pets and there are no wild alpacas in the world, they are the smallest member of the camel family, and how their treasured fur is 30% warmer than sheep’s wool.
