WILLIAMSBURG — J. Fenton, a boutique store that specializes in unique gifts, clothing, and accessories, will reopen to the public at its new location in the heart of Merchants Square.
The retailer will hold the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for its new location at 415 Duke of Gloucester St., on Friday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m.
“I have been in Merchants Square for 34 years waiting to have my boutique located on Duke of Gloucester Street,” said Joan Fenton, founder and owner of J. Fenton. “I am so thrilled and excited to finally be here.”
Joan started her business with Quilts Unlimited, the parent company of J. Fenton, in which she founded with her husband, Albie Tabackman, in 1981. Inspired by the couple’s love of unique and antique quilts, the parent company was managed out of a storefront on Prince George Street.
As business grew, Fenton founded J. Fenton, which now boasts two locations, including J. Fenton Too in Charlottesville, and a vibrant online retail presence.
J. Fenton offers women’s clothing, including sizes up to 26, along with American-made and fair trade gifts brought in from around the world. J. Fenton carries unique jewelry options from artisans, some of whom, the retailer notes, have worked with Fenton for over thirty years.
