WILLIAMSBURG — A portrait studio that caters specifically to families with pets will open on High Street in Williamsburg by the end of this year.

Bonilla Pet Studio is a pet portrait studio based out of MacArthur Center in Norfolk, and serves high-quality portraits for pet parents in Hampton Roads.

After tripling its staff and doubling availability since last year, Bonilla Pet Studio will expand to its new Williamsburg location at 1430 High St. in early December.

Erin Bonilla, award-winning photographer and owner of the studios, said that she looks forward to being part of the prominent pet community in Williamsburg.

“It’s a really unique service that we offer and we know how much of a pet-loving community there is in Williamsburg,” she said. “So we’re just excited to bring a service to the pet parents in the Williamsburg area so they can experience what we offer, because it’s so much fun, and we provide really high quality, beautiful art pieces for our clients.”

The Williamsburg location, which has been a long-time goal for Bonilla, will welcome families with pets of all kinds, including dogs, cats, birds and reptiles.

The studio has expanded its Norfolk staff to meet the new demand since pandemic restrictions have lifted. Bonilla’s husband Oswaldo Bonilla, is now also her chief business partner and chief operations officer of both locations.

While there is not yet a set date for the studio’s official opening in Williamsburg, construction on the new studio is expected to be finished the week before Thanksgiving. There will also be a grand opening celebration on Dec. 4.

Bonilla said that Heritage Humane Society, in which the studio has worked closely with to sponsor a number of events in Williamsburg, will also be at the grand opening celebration with adoptable dogs.
