VIRGINIA BEACH — New Realm Brewing Company opened its new location off General Booth Boulevard here Thursday.
The flagship brewery is in Atlanta, Georgia, and co-founders Carey Falcone, Bob Powers and Mitch Steele said they are proud to launch their second location here at the Beach.
With a 50-barrel brewhouse, a 44,000-square-foot outdoor space and seating for 450, this location is more than double the size of the Atlanta brewery.
Steele, an award-winning brewmaster, oversees the operations of the fully-automated brewery, and head brewer Evan Chamberlain is no stranger to this brewing facility since he has worked here since its inception as Green Flash.
New Realm has a two-kettle brewhouse, which is unique for this area, and allows for a flexible schedule in the brewing of new beers.
Steele says that although New Realm doesn’t currently can beers on location, on-site packaging is in the works for the near future.

The tasting room offers between 12-17 beers on tap at all times, including classics from the flagship brewery such as Hoplandia, an American IPA, Hoptropolis, a New England IPA, and the Euphonia Pilsner.
The most distinguishing feature of New Realm is its brew pub model.
The Atlanta location houses a full restaurant with seating for 600 — Falcone said the Virginia Beach location is on track to open its full service restaurant in early 2019.
Falcone said of the Atlanta New Realm location, “We have a chef who’s convinced that people come here for the food and a brewmaster who’s convinced people come here for the beer.”

Virginia Beach Vice Mayor James Wood and Director of Economic Development Warren Harris were in attendance for the grand opening.
For his christening toast Falcone said “To a long-term partnership. We appreciate everything you’ve done for us and we’re going to do our best to be great members of the community here.”
New Realm is open Monday-Thursday from 4 to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
