WILLIAMSBURG — B. Jordan Menswear held a ribbon-cutting Friday, Sept. 18, to mark the opening of its new store at 1006 Richmond Road.
“On behalf of the city, welcome,” said Vice Mayor Pat Dent. “We don’t want to just be here today supporting the store. We want to support you from now, going forward.”
The store is a partnership between its namesake, Bill Jordan, and James Bower. Bower opened his first store in Lynchburg and has since opened several others under different names. He owns five men’s stores in Virginia, each named for a different person.
When Bower met Jordan, he asked whether he wanted to keep working in menswear. Jordan, who has been in the business for about six decades, was eager to.
“At the end of the day, it’s about the legacy.,” Bower said. “And what we’re able to bring to men.”
The store has five departments: tailored clothing, sport and casual, fine shirtings and neckwear, footwear, and furnishings and leather. It carries 40 brands, and the philosophy is that nothing hangs there that the staff wouldn’t wear out the door themselves.
B. Jordan is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“For everybody who’s come here, thank you,” Jordan said.
